The first weekend of the Fia Formula 3 Championship ended in total success for Trident Motorsport, which conquered the first and second positions with Gabriel Bortoleto and Oliver Goethe. The Brazilian driver, who had scored the second fastest lap of qualifying, 0.057s away from pole, had a perfect start when the traffic lights went out and took the leadership of the race, acquiring an excellent advantage over the group. During the race, however, he lost the first position to the advantage of his rival Gabriele Minì, who was then five-second penalty for wrong positioning on the starting grid and thus allowed Bortoleto to win the race. Goethe instead, was the author of an excellent initial overtaking and a brilliant performance that allowed him to close the race in P2. The driver from Piacenza, Leonardo Fornaroli didn’t have a lucky day, who was forced to withdraw due to a punctured tyre.
“It was the first time for Trident Motorsport to field three rookies in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, and I really think we won our bet in Bahrain.” Says Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager. “ We got a memorable one-two result, with Bortoleto winning in front of teammate Goethe.”
