On the F3 podium of the Sprint Race Stromsted and Wurz. Camara first in the standings

Trident Motorsport delivered a standout performance at Spa-Francorchamps, reclaiming the top spot in the FIA Formula 3 Team Championship after a commanding display during Round 8 of the season. The Italian team dominated Saturday’s Sprint Race, showcasing the strength and consistency of its driver lineup.

Following a tightly contested qualifying session, Rafael Câmara secured an impressive second place on the grid. Teammates Charlie Wurz and Noah Strømsted qualified ninth and eleventh respectively, positioning them well for the reverse-grid Sprint Race. Starting from P2, Danish driver Strømsted made the most of the opportunity, launching into the lead in the opening corners and never looking back. He controlled the race from start to finish, crossing the line with over six seconds of advantage and setting the fastest lap along the way: a flawless performance that underlined both his talent and the team’s preparation.

Wurz also impressed with a solid drive to third place, while Câmara charged from P11 to a strong P5 finish. With two drivers on the podium and all three in the top five, Trident maximized its points haul and reclaimed the lead in the Teams’ standings.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager:
“Noah delivered a dominant performance, while Charlie secured a well-deserved podium and Rafael gained crucial points. It was a well-executed race across the board, and it puts us back at the top of the standings.”

Feature Race frustration: weather wipes out sunday hopes

Sunday’s Feature Race was heavily impacted by adverse weather conditions. Torrential rain hit the Ardennes circuit ahead of the start, causing multiple incidents during the formation lap. The race was red-flagged and delayed in hopes of improved conditions. When the race finally resumed behind the safety car, worsening visibility and further off-track excursions forced race control to bring the event to an early end after just two laps.

As the minimum race distance was not met and all laps were run under safety car conditions, no points were awarded. It was a disappointing outcome for Trident, particularly for Rafael Câmara, who had lined up on the front row and was aiming to extend his championship lead. Wurz and Strømsted, classified P8 and P9 respectively, were also denied the chance to capitalize on their strong form from Saturday.

Eyes on Hungary: staying ahead in both championships

Despite the unfortunate outcome of the Feature Race, Trident Motorsport leaves Belgium leading the Team Championship. Câmara remains at the top of the Drivers’ Standings with a 28-point cushion over his closest rival. The focus now shifts to next weekend’s round in Hungary: the penultimate stop of the 2025 FIA Formula 3 season.
