Trident triumphs again: Rafael Câmara clinches the FIA Formula 3 title in Budapest

Trident Motorsport has claimed its third consecutive FIA Formula 3 Drivers' Championship title, thanks to a stellar campaign by Rafael Câmara. The Brazilian driver sealed the championship with one round to spare, delivering a dominant performance in the Feature Race at the Hungaroring during a rain-affected but action-packed weekend.

Rain-soaked victory seals the crown

A pre-race downpour forced race control to implement a rolling start, but Câmara remained unfazed. Starting from pole position, he immediately pulled away from the field, establishing a strong race pace on the damp and slippery surface. Despite two Safety Car deployments due to on-track incidents, Câmara maintained composure and control throughout the race.

With four race wins and five pole positions in the season, Câmara has proven to be not only exceptionally fast on single-lap pace but also highly composed and strategic during race conditions. He nearly secured the fastest lap of the race, missing it by mere thousandths of a second in the closing stages.

Strong weekend for Wurz and Strømsted as well

Trident Motorsport’s weekend success extended beyond Câmara. Charlie Wurz, who started sixth on the grid, delivered a well-managed and aggressive drive, climbing up the order and finishing just off the podium in P4, following a series of tightly contested battles.

Noah Strømsted, starting from P13, faced a more challenging race. The Danish rookie made early gains by exploiting the mixed track conditions, but as the circuit dried and the wet tyres degraded, he eventually crossed the line in P12.

Eyes on Monza: final push for the teams’ championship

With the Drivers’ Championship now secured, Trident Motorsport shifts focus to the Teams’ Standings, where they currently lead. The final showdown is set for Monza in September, where the Italian outfit will aim to complete a highly successful season with a double title.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager:

"We are extremely pleased to have secured the FIA Formula 3 Drivers' Championship title for the third year in a row with Rafael Câmara. This season has seen us go head-to-head with highly competitive teams and drivers, which makes this achievement even more valuable. Winning such a closely fought championship is never easy, and doing it repeatedly is even more demanding. My sincere thanks go to the entire team for their outstanding work, and to Rafael, a driver of undeniable talent who has a very bright future ahead. Now, our attention turns to the Teams’ title, which we’ll fight for in the final round at Monza."
